I wrote this piece for big band in 2020, and we recorded it remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As the title suggests, this piece was inspired by the music of American composer Steve Reich ("New York Counterpoint," "Electric Counterpoint," etc.). Rather than compose a strictly imitative piece, I wanted to take the spirit of those works and combine some of their mechanics with those of a more traditional big band composition.
